Our Scout Troop…
Our Scouts meet at the Hall every week, and the Troop is separated into smaller groups called Patrols. Our Patrols work together to learn and play games.
- Age: 10½ – 14 years old.
- Meeting Times: Friday 7pm – 9pm
What do our Scouts do? What don’t they do! As well as meeting at the Hall every week, we go camping regularly, then there’s the water weekend, the Scout narrowboat, trips to high ropes courses, fundraising, visiting our local campsite for archery, rifle shooting, climbing and abseiling.. the list goes on!
Our Troop is split into smaller groups called Patrols, and when on camp each Patrol looks after themselves, from gathering wood and making fires, to cooking, cleaning and trying to beat the Leaders at camp challenges.
Each summer the Scouts go on a longer ‘Summer Camp’, and often this isn’t in the UK. We have camped in Switzerland many times, and next year we hope to go abroad again.
Many of our scouts complete their Yorkshire Challenge award – which includes camping out for at least one night in every month of the year! We have a winter weekend in a scout hostel every December (complete with full Christmas dinner and Pantomimes), but those needing their December night are welcome to camp in the snow!
Our Scout Troop is a good mix of boys and girls, so if you’d like to join our adventure come to one of our regular meetings and see what we’re getting up to.
