Scout weekend at Selside, Yorkshire Dales
Posted on 3 June 2019
The Scout Troop spent a long weekend at Selside, near Horton in Ribblesdale during the February half term, and had a great time! Besides getting out and about on the slopes of Penyghent and walking in the environs of the famous Ribblehead viaduct, the Scouts enjoyed (!) a Beetle Drive (an ancient fundraising activity for Scout Groups!), had a ‘music quiz’ which covered all genres of music, and competed in the ‘Great British Bake Off’! This consisted of ‘the heats’ where the Scout teams were given the ingredients and recipes to make 3 different types of scone, and the heat winners went through to the final to bake a Victoria Sponge! The weekend had to be cut short when it was discovered that there was no water – with no loos in action, and no water for eating / drinking, we had to head home a day early, and Richard and Donna had to go back the following day with barrels of water to clear up! Despite this, a great weekend!
